Do you want to know how to become a better leader? Well, while there are quite a few things to learn about, the one that probably always tend to stay on the top of the list is motivating your employees.
If you don’t know how to motivate team that works for you, you may not manage to go far as a leader. After all, a leader is believed to be only as good as their team. Some Indian leaders like Ratan Tata (Tata Group) and Kartikeya Sharma (iTV Media Network) may be taken as examples when it comes to motivating employees, as they have seemingly come a long way doing that just that.
That being said, here’s how you can motivate your employees.
Understanding their needs
If you only focus on what you need while giving a deaf ear to your employees’ needs, you may never be able to motivate them enough to put in their best possible efforts.
You can even simply listen to them to understand their needs and learn about what they want. You can then try making a plan to help fulfill their desires as your business grows.
Showing respect
You just can’t afford to compromise on this one. Unless your employees feel they are being given the respect they deserve, they may never turn supportive enough for you or your business.
Incentives and rewards may seem great, but they may not do much unless you show respect to your employees.
Showing trust
Just like respect, showing trust seems to be crucial as well. You simply cannot keep a watch over each and everything your team does for you, especially when your business is growing. You may sometimes have to offer them the required freedom and let them do things their way.
This may also help them feel more responsible for the tasks they are assigned.
Don’t let them get distracted
Apparently, one of the major reasons many start-ups fail is because they lose sight of their initial goals. Hence, you may want to ensure that your employees never get distracted from focusing on the goals of your organization.
You may even want to keep periodic meetings to share and remind your employees about your organization’s goals
